Our Mission
Long-term care is a personal issue for us. My father was a World War II veteran and died in a U.S. nursing home in 1996. My mother is 87 and continues to live independently; she even drives her Mazda 6 on a daily basis. Nonetheless, Mom may eventually need long-term care, and if that happens, my brothers and I will help make the necessary decisions. Our situation is not unique. Right now thousands of the “baby boom” generation are trying to make informed long-term care decisions for our parents’ generation (the greatest generation). Poor access to data and poor data quality may sabotage our efforts. That's why Cowles Research Group is committed to maintaining the highest quality long-term care research database possible. We also advocate to make more long-term care data available for research.
