Common Questions About What We Do
What data is available?
Various federal government agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the National Technical Information Service, and most of
the larger States, publish Catalogs of Public Use Files. These catalogs list
data tapes that are available for purchase. Everything in those catalogs is
available from CRG. The catalogs, however, only list the most popular data files.
Many files are available that are not listed in the catalogs. We maintain relations
with federal and state government agencies to keep track of what's out there. As a
result, we either have it in stock or can get it for you.

Can I get mailing lists?
Yes. Mailing lists can be generated from any file that has the name,
address, city, state, and zip code on it, such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services's OSCAR file. We can provide address lists on sticky labels or
computer files that you can import directly into your mail merge program, such as
Word or WordPerfect. For more information see Mailing Lists.

I'm not sure what data I need.
This is normal in the early stage of a project. The best way to begin is to just
talk informally with as many knowledgeable people as you can. We'd be happy to act as
a sounding board. Give us a call. See also Buying & Using Data.

How much will it cost?
If you are buying popular data, it will probably cost less to get it from us than
to buy it directly from the government agency. For the more esoteric files, expect
to pay the direct cost from the government agency plus a small fee for us to convert the file
from its original format to the format you require.
Prices include unlimited technical support.

Does CRG provide support for the databases it sells?
Always. CRG provides whatever level of support you require.
